We have a vintage Pearson 10M (33ft) that we keep on the dock of a marina that's very exposed to both wind and waves. I wanted to ensure that our pride and joy would benefit from the safest dock lines that we could find. I found the shock absorbing dock lines at our local chandlery and after the salesperson described it as being the very best, I bought a full set, one for the bow, one for the stern and two spring lines. After several complete seasons of use, weathering several large blows, I can tell you that the high quality braid doesn't show any signs of wear and the integrated shock absorber hasn't lost any of its elasticity. The additional fact that the product looks great on our boat is another bonus... Great idea, wish I had thought of it myself!!!
