SHOCK ABSORBING DOCK LINES
MOORING LINE
Anchor chain snubber
Dinghy Painter
-
Q : How does your pricing compare to the nylon dock lines?
-
A : Because of our superior shock absorbing protection a comparision can only be best made with the combined cost of a nylon dock line with an external spring or snubber. Synergy's products offer a far more functional solution at substantially less cost.
-
Q : How long does the shock absorber last?
-
A : It will last much longer that the external snubbers due to the fact the Synergy Marine's shock absorber insert is inside, protected from harmful UV
-
Q : How is the shock absorber inserted?
-
A : The shock absorber is inserted during the manufacturing process, it is NOT an add on.
-
Q : What does the shock absorber consist of?
-
A : The shock absorber consists of multi strands of industrial grade rubber.
-
Q : What is the benefit of polyester?
-
A :
Polyester is more durable than nNylon.
Polyester does not "Squeak" when wet like nylon.
Polyester does not loose strength when wet like nylon
Polyester stays nice and supple, no more stiff dock lines like nylon.
-
Q : Why would I use your shock absorber dock line?
-
A : Stretch in the shock absorber prevents damage to deck cleats and dock cleats due to wind, wakes, tides and waves.
No need for nylon rope as the stretch in nylon is no longer required due to the built in shock absorber.
-
Q : Does the dock line coil easily?
-
A :
Easy to handle and coil compared to nylon lines with an external rubber snubber.
Much less cumbersome to toss that lines with the external snubber. (Less injuries to dock hands!!!)
-
Q : What happens if the shock absorber breaks?
-
A :
This process would take a very long time as the shock absorber is multi strands of industrial grade rubber versus the solid external rubber snubber.
No more worries about that external rubber snubber breaking due to the rubber break down caused by exposure to harmful UV. (When it does break, you are left with a 10"-12" length of extra line that was wound around the external snubber) so your boat is tied more securely.
-
Q : Have you ever wondered why your boat is not tied as securely as when you left it?
-
A : That is due to the stretch in the nylon. Polyester does not stretch.
-
Q : Why are my dock lines stiff and hard when I arrive to the boat?
-
A : That is due to the nylon line being stretched out to its max which in turn degrades the line.
-
Q : Why are your dock lines only available in black?
-
A : Black resists UV degredation better than other colours.
-
Q : Where would I tie your dock lines on my boat?
-
A :
Shock absorber dock lines are most effective as bow and stern lines. Use as spring lines is only requried when protecting the boat from forward and backard surge. An alternative if you purchase a longer length, once the dock line is secured to the bow and stern dock cleats, you can use the balance of the line as a spring when brought to the center cleat on the boat.
-
Q : Does your dock line minimize the "jerking" of the boat when tied to the dock?
-
A : The shock absorber dock line alleviates all this movement.
-
Q : Can I use your shock absorbing dock line as a mooring line?
-
A : Yes you can. By inserting a stainless steel thimble at the spliced end and sewing it with whipping twine in a couple of areas, you now have a great mooring line that has all the advantages of our shaock absorbing lines while the tied to a mooring.
-
Q : Don't you just despise that noise when you are trying to sleep at anchor?
-
A : That is the noise of the chain dragging along the bottom. Many people use an external rubber snubber hook and line to stop this noise along with taking the load off the anchor windlass. Synergy Marine Inc has come up with a great idea to balance out that load by attaching a stainless steel "U" plate on each end of two of our ½' OR 5/8" diameter dock lines. The "U" plate slides over the anchor link and the lines are attached to the bow on the cleats. All is well balanced and there is absolutely no strain on the anchor windlass or the bow roller.
-
Q : When I attach my dinghy painter to the "D" rings, should I also pass it through the center handle?
-
A :
Definitely not. The idea is for the dinghy to be towed by these "D" rings and not the center handle. The handle has not been designed to withstand this load.
Also the dinghy painter line will chafe through as any line would as these handles are plastic and rough, not like the stainless steel "D" rings.
